Mount Everest the highest peak in the world lies in Sagarmatha national park. It lies in the northeast of Nepal. The Everest region is home to majestic mountains, dramatic glaciers, deep settlements. It is a milestone in anyone’s life and it is also told that Journey to Everest is close to journey to Nirvana. This trail passes through the legendary Sherpa villages, monasteries.
There is a direct flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, from where the trekking to Everest begins. One can also reach lukla trekking via Jiri. Taking direct flight to Lukla from Kathmandu saves the time whereas trekking via Jiri gives the opportunity to know details of the trek, meet the charming people and to see rich flora and fauna.
It takes nearly 10 days to reach Namche Bazaar from Jiri, which is famous Sherpa village situated at a height of 3,500m. whereas it takes two days to reach Namche Bazzar from Lukla. It takes around 12 days for Lukla-Mount Everest Basecamp-Lukla trekking.
The Sagarmatha national park was listed in World Heritage Sites in 1979. This park contains three of the world’s seven highest mountains namely Mt.Everest, Lhotse and Cho-Oyu and also it is home to several prominent peaks which are above 6,000 meters.
